Strap in because this segment deals with every community in the United States. Several months ago U.S. hospitals took advantage of something called the Medicare Accelerated and Advance Payment Program or MAAPP. It was intended to assist hospitals that were too large for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) to pay for staffing and increased costs associated with COVID19. In addition many hospitals were told to cease "elective procedures" which also had an impact on their fiscal health. Here with us today is Brian Dieter, President & CEO of Mary Greeley Medical Center based in Ames, Iowa and Gary Botine the hospital CFO to explain the program, what it means to you and what they hope to negotiate in the coming weeks.
