Wednesday Nov 13, 2019
Wednesday Nov 13, 2019
Recently Cityview Magazine's Business Journal held a special event honoring nineteen individuals for their outstanding work in the Greater Des Moines Metro. Nineteen people whom the Business Journal says are "making a difference" in 2019. We were there and spoke to a number of the recipients following the gala celebration. While we couldn't get to them all we did visit with:
Shane Goodman - Owner/Publisher of Cityview
Michele Starkenburg of Ankeny, Iowa
E.J. Giovannetti a long-time Urbandale community servant;
Jim Miller a financial planner and Waukee community leader;
Jackie Norris the President/CEO of Goodwill Industries of Central Iowa;
Christine Osborne the General Manager of Christopher's Fine Jewelry;
Scott Seeliger of Cognizant’s Global Corporate Affairs Team;
Luis Cruz the General Manager of Mickey's Irish Pub;
Dan Knoup the Executive Director of the Greater Des Moines Homebuilders.
A complete list and their bios can be seen here. I wish we could have talked to each recipient but the time got away from us. However each is mentioned in the clip you are about to hear.
Thanks for listening.

You Love Your Pet...Why Doesn't Iowa?
Wednesday Sep 18, 2019
Wednesday Sep 18, 2019
We see the news stories way too often. Dogs and cats abused, tortured, left to die at the end of a chain without water on hot days or kept outside in the freezing cold. For those of us who truly love our pets those stories are haunting and terrible. Why do they bother us so? The answer to that is simple, we love our pet dogs and cats.You know what I'm saying is true. With me is Haley Anderson from the Iowa Pet Alliance. Join us as we try to answer the question, "We love our pets but why doesn't Iowa?". You'll find it troubling.

The Dow signaled before the bell this morning it was going to open down...and it did. Off by over 400 points. In the end the blue-chips closed off 800 points the worst day of the year. The reason is in our first story:
Fear of the "R-Word" is driving a sell off but there is more;
Walmart adjusts it's inventory moving 1,000 items out. We'll share why;
The Trade War, China & Tourists...and Macy's;
Imagine the bank paying YOU to get a home loan. It's a story.
Those pieces and we've got a Small Business Spotlight that features the fast rise of a home-improvement company Justin Williams founded in October of last year and in that short time was awarded the Small Business of the Year Award from his local chamber. What is the secret sauce? We asked the A New Look Exteriors founder that question and more. Here is that conversation.
