Today we learned that the U.S. added 390,000 jobs. Wall Street was hoping for much less… It’s the business news headlines for Friday the 3rd day of June, thanks for being with us everybody. This has been quite a week and we've felt it here. Just last night two young people lost their lives in a church parking lot in Ames, Iowa and the shooter then took his own life in what is being described as a "domestic situation". Gun violence continues to rock us and the entire nation. Sorry for the sidetrack but it's been a week. In the business news headlines:
390,000 jobs added in May - Wall Street wanted fewer;
Does that add up? Some thoughts;
Meanwhile there has been a surge in layoffs;
But fewer people are filing for unemployment;
Headed toward a recession or...not?
Acquiring Kohls is, well, complicated;
The Wall Street Report;
Restaurants may be biting the hand that feeds them.

ADP is issuing a warning about the May Job Numbers…it’s the business news headlines for Thursday the 2nd day of June…thanks for being with us. And, just a teaser, if you are under the age of 55 we suspect the last story today might not have the same impact on you than those traveling folks of the 60's and 70's. Here's what we've got:
If the numbers hold it's a job failure;
Oil prices climb;
Wall Street shrugged off some news;
Facebook is sending out checks;
Some $5.8 billion in student debt forgiven;
Time to bring back the "Brown Bag" for lunch?
The Wall Street Report;
Today we lost something iconic...no, really.

Thursday Jun 02, 2022
Thursday Jun 02, 2022
Off mic he said to me, "I'm going to share with you what ails so many businesses, families and our nation and it can be wrapped up in two words, financial literacy." Meet Jack Stack: businessman, author, keynote speaker who, in the next several minutes, will share with you how you can build a thriving business by getting everybody on board...and it's not done by holding hands and singing Kumbaya. No, his tried and true method is to get everybody from the line worker to HR to engineering to marketing to the front office to better understand what's going on "inside the numbers" and how they can play a part in creating productivity and profit. And, it not only can help businesses but also families and that, he says, will cure so many of our nation's ills. Strap in for Jack Stack.

This truly is one of the more inventive business adventures we've ever featured. Brenna Young was on our newscast several years ago when she had a catering business. A couple of years ago she sold that and reimagined herself as a "Boat Captain for Hire". She went to the United States Coast Guard training facility and now can captain your boat...wherever. She recently traveled to Florida to better learn about navigating the Gulf of Mexico. Her business, Party on the Lake, is a real tribute to entrepreneurship. Listen as we talk about it.
