Just How Do Successful Entrepreneurs Think with Jason Feifer
Wednesday Mar 06, 2019
Wednesday Mar 06, 2019
Early this morning I got to welcome Jason Feifer the Editor in Chief of Entrepreneur Magazine to Iowa. He was in the Des Moines Metro to headline a breakfast meeting with the Greater Des Moines Partnership and then off for CI-Week with our friend Tony Paustian of DMACC-West. His topic this morning was "How Do Successful Entrepreneurs Think". Before he took the mic he sat down behind our mic and talked about change. More to the point the history we have in refusing to accept change be it a bicycle (not kidding) or recordings of music. In addition he chatted a bit about his new book he wrote with his wife, Jennifer Miller, "Mr. Nice Guy". Click through for more.

One of the neat things we get to do is to partner with the Windsor Heights, Iowa Chamber of Commerce in helping them give "voice" to their members. From time to time we've sat down with their new or existing members and offered our services to be able to share their story. It's what we do... Here you'll learn about the history of the Des Moines YMCA and the Boone, Iowa YMCA Camp as well as the work being done at the Walnut Creek YMCA a new member of the Windsor Heights Chamber. Meet Michelle Allison-Peterson and then consider how you might engage with this YMCA or your local YMCA.

In spite of some positive economic news today the failed trip to Hanoi regarding the talks between the U.S. and North Korea had investors upset. That story along with:
Employees walk out of three Sonic locations in Ohio;
It seems that Millennials have "buyers remorse" about their new home;
The GAP is spinning off Old Navy;
The tip I was given last week about the University of Iowa Community Credit Union was spot on;
The Des Moines Blank Park Zoo owes about $5 million in water bills...yikes!
What happened and why on Wall Street.
Those stories plus a conversation with Kirk Miller from Casey's General Store, an Iowa based convenience store chain, about a new fuel card for businesses. We talk about this new offering, how it works and how it is different than others and who can get it. Also we talk about pizza (you KNEW that was coming) and how a unsuccessful hostile takeover bid helped the company focus. To hear that conversation click here.
