Tuesday Sep 10, 2019
Tuesday Sep 10, 2019
Recently the public was able to view The Forge a training and work center in the rural community of Jefferson, Iowa. The opening of this center has lots of moving parts including Pillar Technology, the city, county and state. There are Silicon Valley folks, Iowa Central Community College, Des Moines Area Community College...it's a big deal. Here, in this brief overview, we chat with the Mayor of Jefferson, Craig Berry, a recipient of a DMACC scholarship, Safora Khan and California Congressman Ro Khanna who had much to do with bringing the parties together. If replicated, this could be a major boost to communities across the U.S.

Technology and Rural America with Congressman Ro Khanna
Tuesday Aug 27, 2019
Tuesday Aug 27, 2019
Last year California Congressman Ro Khanna was in Jefferson Iowa to help launch the Pillar Technology Hub that will open for the public on September 7th. Congressman Khanna was instrumental in gathering some Silicon Valley giants together for this project and he'll be back for the open house event. I thought it might be valuable to look back at this conversation that happened when the project was announced to an overflow crowd.

Meet Presidential Candidate Admiral Joe Sestak - Part One
Thursday Jul 18, 2019
Thursday Jul 18, 2019
He entered the crowded 2020 Democratic Presidential Race late. The reason was an illness of his daughter that has now been reversed. That, in itself, is quite the emotional story which he relates in Part Two. We begin by talking about his thirty years in the United States Navy and what that experience led to winning a congressional race, twice, in Pennsylvania. Meet Admiral Joe Sestak as he barnstorms across Iowa.
