While in Jefferson, Iowa reporting on the new technology hub and education center there I was able to sit down for a few minutes with 4th District Congressional Candidate J.D. Scholten. The former professional baseball player is once again up to bat for the 2020 congressional election after coming so close last year. Here we talk about that decision, his RV and Kevin Costner...no, really. Here is that interview.

Recently the public was able to view The Forge a training and work center in the rural community of Jefferson, Iowa. The opening of this center has lots of moving parts including Pillar Technology, the city, county and state. There are Silicon Valley folks, Iowa Central Community College, Des Moines Area Community College...it's a big deal. Here, in this brief overview, we chat with the Mayor of Jefferson, Craig Berry, a recipient of a DMACC scholarship, Safora Khan and California Congressman Ro Khanna who had much to do with bringing the parties together. If replicated, this could be a major boost to communities across the U.S.

Greene County Growth and the New Casino for Jefferson

In what some are calling a surprising vote, today the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved, on a 3-2 vote, a casino license for the Greene Country Community of Jefferson, Iowa. We visited with Chad Schreck the Executive Director of the Midwest Partnership the economic development arm for Adair, Audubon, Greene and Guthrie counties as to what this, and other incentives, mean for his area.
