He is one of our favorite people to interview. Recently former Maryland governor Martin O'Malley was in Iowa stumping for a host of Democrats seeking election to the Iowa Statehouse and to the U.S. Congress. We caught up with him as he was helping Iowa House candidate Heather Matson in Ankeny. We start the conversation talking about the economy, Wall Street, wages and then work into a discussion as to why he believes the right way to build the future of the Democratic Party is to work hard for candidates not at the top of the ballot. One of the legislators who put pressure on Amazon to increase its minimum wage is Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA). In the end Jeff Bezos announced that Amazon would pay $15 an hour to start. A day later Amazon announced it would no longer offer bonuses to it's employees. We asked for a reaction and got it. Also we talked about children and poverty not only nationwide but in Iowa.
