The Business News Headlines & More 19 August 2019

The markets recovered some of their August sell-off today with the Dow up 249 points, the Nasdaq gaining 106 points and the S&P 500 up by 34 points and change.  The reason? Bond yields rose, the government is giving U.S. businesses 90 days to do business with Huawei and President Trump telling everybody that the trade talks are going well.  It was enough to boost stocks.  In other news:
Target to launch yet another private brand;
The problem for restaurants with food delivery companies;
Major corporate CEO's today stunned the world;
Stress and the job search.

The Labor Department said the U.S. added 164,000 jobs;
Wages year over year up by 3.1% but...there is a but;
Somebody really was listening to Siri and Google...but no longer;
Best food places in America according to a new survey;
Goodbye eating in restaurants? Food delivery is the new thing.

Business, The Economy and Poor People

Follow this line of thinking: If there are 140 million Americans that are poor, that's 43% of the U.S. population, what does that do to our overall economy? If people are shut out of housing or spending up to 50% of their income on shelter there is little left for food, insurance, transportation and education. This week the National Poor People's Campaign came to Iowa. There was little media attention paid to the visit by Rev. Wall Street struggled all day long as investors kept an eye toward earnings reports. In the end the Dow was up by just 17 points the Nasdaq gained 57 points on the back of tech and the S&P 500 was up by 8 points. Oil also gained on the day.  In other news:
