Okoboji Writers Retreat 2.0 with Julie Gammack

Last year when my friend, journalist and entrepreneur, Julie Gammack called to invite me to attend the Okoboji Writers Retreat I was happy to say "Yes!". I figured that maybe 50 writers, speakers, creators might show up.  Uhm...I was wrong. Over 120 folks showed up to listen, learn and get motivated to create. Now it's time for the Okoboji Writers Retreat 2.0 and it's a big deal.  Here Julie will explain what to expect and some of the folks who will be attending.  And she leaves us with a tease of something else she is working on.  Listen in and consider joining us in September. A Rare Business Model for the Media - Liz Kennedy from The Gazette

Nothing ever happens by accident. I'm reviewing interview notes during EntreFest held this year in Iowa City, Iowa when a woman sees my press badge. Turns out Liz Kennedy is in charge of digital media for The Cedar Rapids Gazette. That led to this conversation about Iowa Ideas a multi day virtual event covering significant health issues impacting Iowans. (Yes, you can attend!) There is a shocking story about who owns the Gazette (which sheds new light on how they cover the news) and how badly they want your ideas and input. And, if that's not enough there is a fall (October 13-14) Iowa Ideas virtual event with the keynote being none other than the famous Simon Estes. So much to unpack here...enjoy. I sure did!

Pedaling for Profit - Meet Ben Snyder of Pedal Power

Over the years we've interviewed lots and lots of entrepreneurs to established business people but this is the first time we've focused on a business consultant who has created a bicycle taxi service called Pedal Power. What is so stunning about Ben Snyder is how involved he is in, well, everything.  Marketing, selling, hiring, promoting other businesses, fixing his equipment, finding new equipment to add to his bikes.  And, you can hear the excitememt in his voice.
