Science and COVID19 with Yogesh Shah, MD - Broadlawns Medical Center

If you pay attention to the news about COVID19, and who doesn't, you will hear various stories about everything from testing (or a lack of the same) to how it will just, like magic, disappear. Recently Yogesh Shah, M.D. the Medical Director for Broadlawns Medical Center of Des Moines, Iowa did a session with AARP-Iowa taking questions and answering concerns. We thought it would be great to invite him to The Business News Hour to separate fact from fiction. While we could not be more anxious for business to get "back to normal" quickly...as we examined the scientific reality of the pandemic...that seems less and less likely. He also shares details of a new test and Broadlawns is partnering with The United Way of Central Iowa to reach many in underserved sections of the community.  Here is Dr. Shah.

DSM Civil & Human Rights Symposium

For over three decades the Des Moines Civil and Human Rights Commission has presented a symposium intended to both hear and educate the general public about issues that face us all. Here you'll meet Joshua Barr the Director of the commission and Ryan Arnold the Director of Community Engagement at Drake University. We'll start with an understanding of what the commission does, why Drake is supporting the event and then get into what the symposium is about and how the topics came to be.  Registration is OPEN until March 6th. In addition to the symposium there is a kick-off event the evening of the 17th at 6PM with Vanessa Roberts "Afropuff Lederhosen: A Critically Comical Investigation of Race" which will also be at Drake.
