The markets jumped up and down early in the session but then investors got wind that the Central Bank may be pausing any benchmark interest rate hikes for at least until later.  That did have an impact. While the substance is a danger during manufacturing there is no substitute available yet. Going International with Willem Cornelisse 11 October 2023

Recently we were on assignment in Phoenix, Arizona and had the opportunity to visit with several folks who were attending the annual meeting of the group, Independent Distributors Association. Think heavy construction equipment and parts. While there we were able to reconnect with Willem Cornelisse the Managing Director of Cornelisse Trading a firm located in The Netherlands. Here we talk about a movement that started in Europe to ban a substance used in the manufacturing of nearly everything on the planet. The issue is that there is not yet a replacement substance and the damage would be huge to the manufacturing industry. Oh, the things you learn. Meet our friend Willem.

I've known Paul Kelly for several years and when I invited him to sit down for an interview about his company MaxiForce I was in for a surprise story about his father Santiago Morales.  I also knew Santiago, who recently passed away, but I did not know this amazing story about his involvement with the CIA, the failed Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba that resulted in him being in a Cuban prison for 18 years. They Are Iowa’s Rural Cathedrals’ - The 1850 Homestead Barn

This is a totally surprise conversation. Recently a friend of ours, Davi Mondt Lowman made me aware of a project that had been going on in the tiny town of Cambridge, Iowa.  That project has become the 1850 Homestead and barn which recently opened its doors to the public. I took my radio gear to an open house and, as luck would have it, I was able to sit down with Margret Freeland Nelson (family of the homesteaders), Kay Thompson who now owns the barn and her daughter Michelle Reisberg who, with her husband Bill, now manage the facility that is open for a host of public and private events.  We think you'll enjoy this story.

Celebrating 50 Years - Stockman’s Inn with Lyle and Sharon Kreps

This will be a huge memory jog for those of you who have taken in the Iowa State Fair and had the pleasure of hanging out at Stockman's Inn next to the Cattle Barn.  Lyle and Sharon Kreps started this project fifty years ago and this year they retire and turn it over to their kids Brian, Jason and Jennifer. So many stories, so many people and so many good times. Each night of the eleven day fair it's the place to go to hear live country music and reconnect with folks you may not have seen for at least a year. Here we sit down with Lyle and Sharon and son Brian to remember and look ahead. Enjoy the ride...we sure have!
