A Watershed Festival? No, Really!

Water is on the mind of nearly every person in the Greater Des Moines Metro...and across the state. Eight years ago ecologist Darren Fife started a clean-up project along Walnut Creek a small stream that travels from rural to urban and empties in the Raccoon River. That event, with just a dozen or so people, has now evolved into a two day festival scheduled for October 6th and 7th in Clive and Windsor Heights, Iowa. This passion then started Darren on his mission to create a new business EcoSource Iowa. Here Darren talks about the Walnut Creek 8th Annual Watershed Festival and what you can expect.

Historic Waveland Golf Course with Rocky Sposato

This week, as they have done for the past several years, the Windsor Heights Chamber of Commerce held a golf event at Waveland Golf Course. It gave us an opportunity to sit down with Rocky Sposato, the manager there, and talk about the historic Des Moines owned facility and how it came to be that a private firm now manages this and two other municipal golf courses in the city...soon to add Jester Park from Polk County.
