Old Threshers Reunion with Terry McWilliams

The event is 75 years old and today you'll meet Terry McWilliams who chairs the event known as the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion…happening in Mount Pleasant, Iowa starting on August 28th. For many reasons Friday was one of the wildest days we've seen in a very long time.  From a dismal jobs report to new tariffs to the firing of a career government worker because  President Trump thinks the job numbers were, in his words, "rigged".  This is the Business News Headlines for Friday and the first day of August.  In other news headlines: More global confusion and uncertainty roiled the markets in Asia, Europe and the United States. We get to say "goodbye" to July and welcome to the Business News Headlines for this Thursday, glad you are with us again. More tough tariff talk kicks us off today meanwhile a group of appellate judges question if Trump has the authority to impose tariffs without Congress. And, as we reported yesterday when the Fed did not cut interest rates we predicted that President Trump would lash out against Fed Chair Jerome Powell...and we didn't even have to wait 24 hours. What a new inflation number tells us about the tariffs. American Eagle Outfitters is causing a ruckus and we’ll tell you about it. We’ll check the markets in the Wall Street Report and Best Buy has a new partner and you’ll be surprised at who it is.  Let’s go!

The Business News Headlines 29 July 2025

We are back from an extended assignment and what a trip back to Iowa.  We flew from Norfolk, VA to DC and then got stuck for 44 hours as American Airlines delayed and cancelled flight after flight. It was an awful experience but grateful to be back and in the studio.  Coming up today we'll kick things off with a story about the millions of millionaires there are in the US which leads all other nations by a bunch. In other news, it’s a day that ends in a Y so let’s talk about…you guessed it, tariffs. That massive railroad merger…looks like it’s on.  Passwords and Microsoft has made the news…and this is important. We’ll take a look at the numbers from Wall Street and the labor market is getting tougher…we’ll have a look at the decreasing number of US job openings.  Ready?  Let’s go!
