The Business News Headlines 23 August 2023
Midweek and yes, here in the Midwest it is HOT. The thermometer tells us that at news time the "real" temp was 102 which beats the old record of 99 degrees. Meanwhile the increased humidity is making it feel more like 120. And today was the first day of school for many here in Iowa and a number of schools ended the day early mostly because cooling was not keeping up with the hot weather. Thanks for being with us and, if you're on Threads you can find us @Insight_On_Business. And you can hook up with us all day on Twitter or "X" @IOB_NewsHour and on Instagram. Here's what we've got for you today:
- What in the world is driving the U.S. Economy? We have thoughts;
- A UPS strike would have been bad...but it's averted with a new contract;
- Improved safety coming for dollar store workers;
- Kohls reports Q2 results which were lower but...there is a but;
- The surprising "reservation salary" for new workers is stunning;
- The Wall Street Report;
- Buying a home? You might want to think "smaller" as many are.
Thanks for listening!
