"Out Of The Mud" with George Hanusa

He has a passion for writing and for history. Meet George Hanusa a 40+ year resident of the tiny town of Windsor Heights, Iowa and author of "Out Of The Mud - How a Rural Coal Mining Settlement Became the City of Windsor Heights". What is curious about Windsor Heights (Pop 4,900) is that it sits directly in the center of the Des Moines Metro surrounded by much larger communities. All of that could have been different had the community annexed what is now the City of Clive. Hanusa has written an unvarnished historical account of Windsor Heights complete with lots of photos and stories any lover of small town history will appreciate. The book is available at the Windsor Heights City Hall, the Windsor Heights Hy-Vee, Beaverdale Books and Plain Talk Books and Coffee.

Autonomy - The Success of HyVee

I have always been impressed with the level of customer service, responsiveness and the vast amount of choice we, as consumers, are given at HyVee. It doesn't seem to matter if that store is in a small Iowa town or in the Greater Des Moines Metro...the attention to detail is always there. Recently the Windsor Heights HyVee installed a new Starbucks, much to the delight of the community.
