It is good to be back with you. It's been quite the week here. Early on Tuesday morning our studio and offices were flooded with close to an inch of water during a storm that dumped two-inches in under twenty minutes. That was followed by a storm that knocked out power for 23 hours. Combining the water damage clean up and clearing trees it was a full 23 hours...we were not bored. But, we're back and grateful! Say, if you want to reach out to us on Social Media you can hook up with us all day on Twitter or "X" @IOB_NewsHour and on Instagram. Facebook? Sure were there too. Here's what we've got for you today:
The unemployment numbers are out and that spooked Wall Street;
The Justice Department filed suit against Ticketmaster and Live Nation;
Traveling this weekend? You will NOT be alone. Some details;
The Wall Street Report;
TikTok to axe about 1,000 jobs and why.
For the conversation you'll meet actor Andy Blakeley who, for several years, was on The Office. But, the surprising thing about that was his acting role was really his "side-gig". We talk about that, his new adventure in the second season of FUBAR on Netflix, his relationship with Arnold Schwarzenegger (who is also in the show) and his Bride who is a famous acting coach by the name of Nancy Banks, and yes, we name names. To listen to our conversation CLICK THIS LINK.
Thanks for being here!

It's the final day of April and the worst month for Wall Street since last September. Welcome to the Tuesday Edition of the Business News Headlines for this the 30th of April. We kick things off with that story and follow several others before we get to a conversation about housing with author Jenny Schuetz and her book, Fixer Upper: How to Repair America's Broken Housing Systems. We are grateful to the Polk County Housing Trust Fund for making Jenny, a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution available for this conversation. Enter Jenny Schuetz the author of "Fixer-Upper: How to Repair America's Broken Housing Systems". Here we talk about the barriers of homeownership and she offers solutions. Our thanks to the Polk County Housing Trust Fund for making Jenny available for this conversation. To listen, click this link.

Before we dive into the Business News Headlines from today the 12th day of April a quick comment about a three hour meeting we had over lunch. It's the re-launch of "Out to Lunch" which is an idea I stole from CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Major Garrett and his podcast "Take Out". (That's us in D.C. last may when I fessed up.) My two lunch guests were Ken Chester the creator and host of the nationally syndicated show "Tech Mobility" as well as Jeff Stein the News and Program Director for News/Talk 1540 KXEL a 50,000 watt station based in Waterloo, Iowa. We spent plenty of time talking about what we do, how we do it and who in the world is listening. We'll air that segment soon. Meanwhile here is what we have for you today:

Wayde is helping oversee a six state regional meeting of JCI Senators who will converge on Des Moines April 19 - 21. And, yes, we name...names. Also if you want to reach us on social media and if you're on Threads you can find us @Insight_On_Business. And you can hook up with us all day on Twitter or "X" @IOB_NewsHour and on Instagram. Facebook? Sure were there too. Here's what we've got for you today:
Investors are spooked about the upcoming inflation report;

We're talking about some Junior Chamber of Commerce memories and about an upcoming event being held in Des Moines April 19 - 21.
