The Dark Knight and the Iowa League of Heroes

Here you will meet The Dark Knight. You may know him as Batman and he is the founder of The Iowa League of Heroes. We sat down in a public coffee shop to have this discussion and not a person there knew who I was actually interviewing. While not in the newscast this evening you need to know that the Iowa Legislature has voted to strip a protected class of individuals from the states Civil Rights Law...the only state in the nation to do so...and their target?  People who are trans or non-binary.  And the business community?  Silent. Yes, there will be business consequences here but nobody seems to care. The Business News Headlines 29 July 2024

We're back after being on assignment for the past several days. We were covering the National Tractor Parts Dealer Association annual Summer Board Meeting which took us on quite a journey.  About 35 people from around the country were in Des Moines, Iowa for the event and they got to visit the World Food Prize Headquarters as well as the Iowa State Capital, a 100 acre salvage yard in Colfax, Iowa and see an Iowa Cubs baseball game. The final report is they had a great time and we'll be bringing you several conversations yet this week. Meet Dr. Rachelle Keck of Grand View University

Recently at our recording booth during the Central Iowa Business Conference hosted by the Urbandale, Iowa Chamber a woman was walking toward us and I commented, "Nice shoes!".  She stopped, came over to the microphones to say, thank you. Turns out she is the president of Grand View University. I asked her if we might record a conversation and, so, we did. What a delightful and talented individual leading a university with roughly 2,000 students near the heart of Des Moines.  You'll also learn about the school's close tie to...Denmark.  Meet Dr. Rachelle Keck.
