Welcome to Thursday. We had a family issue yesterday that rocked us pretty hard. We had made the decision to have our beloved dog, Oscar, move across the Rainbow Bridge. He was a Lab/Chow mix who had been struggling for the past year with age and joint problems We got him as a rescue at age five or six (nobody knows) and had him for close to ten years. I know that you know...how awful this is. The Vet, who works for Lap of Love was amazing. That company specializes in end of life care in 36 states. I just thought you should know.
Today in the business news headlines:
A new threat for domestic EV manufacturers;
Walgreens says they will be closing more stores;
A bit of good news for the housing market;
Some job numbers and economic data to share with you;
Temu responds to a lawsuit from Arkansas;
The Wall Street Report;
Levi's and H&M report earnings...and news about
Beyoncé and her country hit "Levii's Jeans."

We kick things off with that story and follow several others before we get to a conversation about housing with author Jenny Schuetz and her book, Fixer Upper: How to Repair America's Broken Housing Systems. We are grateful to the Polk County Housing Trust Fund for making Jenny, a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution available for this conversation. For the interview we're talking about housing and the many barriers there are to attain the "American Dream". Things like high interest rates, not enough new affordable housing being built, not enough housing stock on the market...it all makes it increasingly difficult to become a homeowner. Enter Jenny Schuetz the author of "Fixer-Upper: How to Repair America's Broken Housing Systems". Here we talk about the barriers of homeownership and she offers solutions. Our thanks to the Polk County Housing Trust Fund for making Jenny available for this conversation. To listen, click this link.
