Blueprint for Building Community - Joshua Barr

Coming up on the 14th of March the Des Moines Civil and Human Rights Commission will host a full day seminar titled, Blueprint for Building Community. Here we visit with Joshua Barr, the Director of the Commission, about Iowa being named as "The Best State in the Nation" and what that means or does not mean. We also spend time discussing the key points of the Seminar and how attending will give people the tools to eliminate racism, build inclusion, understand and fight poverty and more. Day on the Hill with the Greater Des Moines Partnership

Black Business Empowerment - Clair Rudison

We met Clair Rudison at the recent Martin Luther King Jr. event in Des Moines where he offered a passionate address about building black owned businesses that would lift the economics of his neighborhood. With Gov. Kim Reynolds sitting behind him he turned and said, "We need to create a way to encourage and build business opportunities for our black citizens. That is a true path to economic security."
