This is Insight on Business the News Hour with Michael Libbie our daily look at the business news of the Des Moines Metro. On the podcast we bring you only the interview portions that were heard live on 1350-KRNT, Des Moines.Our guests today included State Senator Jack Hatch from Des Moines. Senator Hatch is seeking the Democratic nomination to run for Governor of Iowa.  We talk about his business experience as well as his abilities and ideas for economic development. We then visited with Jacki Boldt from DMACC who is the regional director of the Dream Big - Grow Here small business contest.  Then, in the second half-hour we welcomed Chris Coleman from the Better Business Bureau and a driving force behind the Beverdale Neighborhood re-development project. Insight on Business the News Hour with Michael Libbie airs Monday - Friday from 5 to 6PM Central on 1350-KRNT, Des Moines, Iowa. While we have the business news of the day we also interview news-makers and business people to share their information.  This podcast carries only the interviews.Today we talked with Creighton Cox the Executive Officer with the Home Builders of Greater Des Moines about the rising costs associated with building materials and the need of more skilled trade workers. Then we visited with David Slinker the Market Manager for CenturyLink.  A great interview about customer service and how things have changed. We did not know that CenturyLink was such an "organic company".During the second half-hour we spent some time with Laura Gaulke who is teaching a class for DMACC on Social Media for Business. Class kicks off on the 8th.  And we rounded out the hour with the founder of TIckly, Emma Peterson talking about her two year adventure to bring honesty and fairness to the ticket ordering business.  Good stuff...all!Thanks for being here!

In studio with us was Kyra Jacobson and Taylor Thompson.  From bridal events to bar-mitzvah events they have it covered.Then, following the Wall Street Journal Report, Stocks of Local Interest and the Ag Report we welcomed Leisa Fox from the Iowa Association of Business and Industry. We talked about education, manufacturing jobs and so much more. What can we do to deliver more to Iowa? It is the only hour long business news broadcast in the region.  We focus on local news and interviews with business news-makers.  You can follow us on Facebook or on Twitter.  Today, along with the local business news we had these interviews:We spoke with Mark Pierce the stadium announcer for the Iowa Cubs and newly tapped arena announcer for the Iowa Wild hockey team.  Good stuff from Mark. In that same half-hour our Peter Tarpey visited with Jamie Fitzgerald the Polk County Auditor about the recent school board election and low voter turnout.In the second half-hour Kiley Stenberg of Proper PopUP was in talking about pop-up stores, how they work, where they pop up at and more.  A fun, new way to cause a buzz about women's clothing.
