Insight on Business the News Hour is heard local and live each day between 5PM and 6PM on 1350-KRNT, Des Moines.  But, we know you can't always listen on our time so we've created this podcast so you can listen on your time.  We leave out the news but include the interviews.In this broadcast we visit with Rich Eychaner of Eichaner Properties and the founder of the Eychaner Foundation which promotes tolerance and non-discrimination.  We spent some time talking about the 149 scholarships the foundation has given out as well as the special screening of Matt Shepard is a Friend of Mine which takes place on Wednesday evening.  Big things happening and we were grateful that Rich could find some time to be with us.In the Second half-hour we visited with Martha Willits about the Polk County Courthouse Proposal. This $81 million proposal to re-build and re-purpose the 106 year old courthouse goes before the voters on November 5th. Sound reasoning from Martha.

Our goal is to give voice to business and not just the major companies....but also the folks on Main Street.Today on the News Hour we welcome Danny Homan president of Council 61 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees about a press release that suggests Iowa workers are at risk due to the fact of further cuts in inspection crews and that unemployed Iowans are struggling with a reduction in workers at Iowa Workforce Development.Then we switch gears and visit with Hollie Askey from the Warren County Development Corporation about a new program designed to celebrate business expansion and economic development in Warren County.After we round the bottom of the hour we welcome back Kiley Stenberg from Proper PopUp and find out how this new way of shopping is going.  Some good retail ideas.We finish the news hour with a tip for business about embracing local, local, local and give some examples of how some major businesses have figured out that consumers want...local.

Tom Welchans of Atlantic is in town for a state-wide meeting of the Junior Chamber and we asked him to come by and tell us about this wonderful young persons leadership training organization. And, because Michael is a former president of the Iowa Jaycees he has a special place in his heart for the organization.Then we visited with Robin Pruisner who is the state entomologist working for the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. We asked Robin to share with us the facts behind the recent news release regarding the infestation alert for the Emerald Ash Borer and why you need to be concerned and what you can do about it.  Good stuff...Then we visited with Chris Stonick about how our business can do a better job in recruiting and retaining employees.
