It was "Media Day" at the Des Moines International Airport where Kevin Foley, Executive Director of the Des Moines Airport Authority was eager to talk about the new amenities being offered to travelers. From food to travel swag to new restaurants it was quite the open house. We sat down with Kevin for an extended interview about, not only food, but funding of the proposed new terminal. Hilton Des Moines Downtown - The Convention Center Hotel

This spring the new convention center hotel the Hilton Des Moines Downtown will open it's doors to what is hoped some brisk business. Here we visit with Matt Felling the hotel general manager about what visitors to Des Moines, and those of us who live here, can expect. Matt has 36 years with Hilton and says this hotel is, by far, the most technologically advanced property he has been in. The hotel is a joint venture between the City of Des Moines and Polk County who have hired Hilton to run the adventure. Oh, and looking for a job? Perhaps the most relaxing locally owned restaurant in the Des Moines Metro is Magnolia Wine Kitchen next door to our studios on Locust Street downtown. The Largest "Restaurant" in Iowa with Amanda Miller

Leading up to this interview with Amanda Miller we teased that we had discovered the "largest restaurant in all of Iowa and it was right here in Des Moines"! And, we think, it is true. Amanda is the Director of Food & Nutrition Services for the Des Moines Public Schools. We think you will be amazed at how many daily meals they serve, snacks, breakfasts and more. Historic Waveland Golf Course with Rocky Sposato

This week, as they have done for the past several years, the Windsor Heights Chamber of Commerce held a golf event at Waveland Golf Course. It gave us an opportunity to sit down with Rocky Sposato, the manager there, and talk about the historic Des Moines owned facility and how it came to be that a private firm now manages this and two other municipal golf courses in the city...soon to add Jester Park from Polk County.
