Friday May 02, 2025
So often we have these chance meetings that bring us to a story we love sharing. Here you will meet Theresa Leppert who worked in the medical field and thought a massage was something that only rich people did on vacation. One trip, years ago, changed her life. She went back to school and opened up a massage and aroma therapy business in the tiny town of Maquoketa, Iowa (pop. 6,000). But it doesn't stop there Theresa is also on the Board of Directors of Girl Campers and we'll talk about that as well. Meet Theresa Leppert an entrepreneur that’s got a bunch going on from Girl Campers to Lucida Sol Wellness & Botanicals.

Tuesday Apr 22, 2025
Tuesday Apr 22, 2025
All it took was one person saying the trade war between the U.S. and China is "unsustainable" and Wall Street soared. This is the Business News Headlines for Tuesday the 22nd day of April, thanks for being with us. So, who said "unsustainable"? None other than Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent who later predicted it will all end soon. In other news, First Quarter numbers look awful for Tesla and why. The International Monetary Fund has weighed in on the Trump Tariffs. Have a student loan in default? It will be turned in for collection. We’ve got the Wall Street Report and as tourism declines in the U.S. due to the trade policies of the Trump Administration….Disney will be impacted. But it is the U.S. towns on the border with Canada who are right now suffering. Let’s go…

Wednesday Nov 27, 2024
Wednesday Nov 27, 2024
We kick things off today talking about a familiar issue...inflation. Yes, it's back but still not as bad as it's been. That story first and stick around for a business conversation about the Professional Bull Riders Association...the PBR with its long-time leader Sean Gleason. It's a deep dive into a this thrilling business, how it has grown and even the launch of PBR Bars which we found fascinating. Meanwhile, if you want to reach out to us on social media you can hook up with us all day on Twitter or "X" @IOB_NewsHour and on Instagram. Facebook? Sure were there too. Here's what we've got for you today:
The new inflation numbers are out;
The U.S. economy continues to grow;
Thank you to the American Consumer;
More tariff talk for you;
Big time legal trouble for some tax preparers;
The Wall Street Report;
And, we're headed back to the movies!
For the conversation you'll meet Sean Gleason and the amazing story of the Professional Bull Riders Association or PBR. Back in the day twenty bull riders made the decision to form their own stand-alone group and each one pitched in $1,000. Only to see their investment balloon. You'll also hear about what it takes to do a show, where the PBR is targeting and more. We truly enjoyed this conversation and think you will too. Let's go!

We're going nowhere fast. We kick things off today with the speculation the U.S. Central Bank will delay cuts to it's preferred lending rate until late this year...if at all. The issue is that inflation continues to be well above the Fed's target of 2%. One has to wonder if that target is realistic. Meanwhile, later in the newscast, we have a story about how job seekers are demanding even more money that usual to switch jobs and that does not help the situation. And, a reminder, you can hook up with us all day on Twitter or "X" @IOB_NewsHour and on Instagram. Facebook? Sure were there too. Here's what we've got for you today:
The grim prospect of a lack of rate cuts;
Southern Governors warn about joining a union;
More consumer protection regarding air travel;
Truth Social continues to bleed even with new features;
The Wall Street Report;
Job seekers seek much higher pay levels and why;
The pay-gap between men and women continues to widen.
And if you missed our segment on firearms and firearm safety, which was a big download yesterday here is that link.

Massive Economic Impact from Rivers and Streams
Monday Feb 05, 2024
Monday Feb 05, 2024
Over the past decade old abandoned rail lines have been repurposed to become bicycle trails for the thousands of people who enjoy riding, sometimes, miles each week. That has resulted in some major economic development as restaurants, bars, ice cream joints and retailers open shops along those trails. Now another long forgotten asset is going to be used to impact business. My guest is Stephanie Oppel from ICON or the Iowa Confluence Water Trails group who is in to share with us that groups vision for the future. In addition, creating water activity should also help push along efforts of cleaning up rivers, streams and lakes from pollutants. A win/win. Meet Stephanie:
