Monday Jan 29, 2024
A brand new week and the Business News Headlines for Monday the 29th day of January. A quick programing note: We're headed to Orlando early on Wednesday to cover the National Cattlemen's Beef Association Annual Meeting and Expo there. That means that Wednesday is a travel day so we'll likely be late with the business news headlines. We shall see. Meanwhile today we kick things off talking about the Central Bank and get into a story about Taylor Swift. And, don't miss the conversation we had with author and speaker Garrison Wynn. Good stuff friends! If you want to reach us on social media and if you're on Threads you can find us @Insight_On_Business. And you can hook up with us all day on Twitter or "X" @IOB_NewsHour and on Instagram. Facebook? Sure were there too. Here's what we've got for you today:
The Fed Meeting and Rate Cuts;
Taylor Swift and what is going on over at X;
Big real estate news coming out of China;
What, more Takata air-bag news?
A popular sleep apnea machine halts U.S. sales;
The Wall Street Report;
Two stories coming out about Amazon.
For the interview you're about to meet bests selling author and business speaker Garrison Wynn who began his career as a standup comedian. No, really! I was able to see him work when we were covering a national event in San Diego last week and he offered up a master class on leadership, influencing and generational differences in the workplace. We sat down to chat about his work and comedy and you can hear that conversation by clicking on this link.

Thoughts About the National Tractor Parts Dealer Association with Scott and Trey
Tuesday Feb 15, 2022
Tuesday Feb 15, 2022
Over 40 years ago a group of agriculture equipment recyclers got together and formed the National Tractor Parts Dealer Association (NTPDA). The group was small and mostly confined to the United States. Today the association has members not only in the U.S. but also Canada, Italy, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom and Malaysia. Here I sit down with Scott Schelling the Immediate Past President and owner of Rock Valley Tractor Parts of Iowa and Trey Russell the incoming President and second generation to Russell's Tractor Parts of Alabama during our time at our Annual Conference and Trade Show. We talk about what they've gotten out of the association and what may be coming in the future. Plus a "Shout Out" about the Summer Mixer coming in July.

The weekend is upon us. Today the newscast comes from a very cold Mason City, Iowa where the wind is howling and it's three degrees. Today, along with the business news headlines you'll hear from Jeff Pitts in his last broadcast for us. He's been a rock for nearly six years and we appreciated his loyalty. But he's moving on from his gig with Cityview. You might say this is another example of the Great Resignation and we wish him well. In the news:
A mixed bag on Wall Street but...Oil?
The Jobs Report was amazing, no...really;
One company expects consumers to back off spending;
Some big news out of Lowes today;
Are the days of Mega-Malls over;
Could a union be coming to a Google player;
Speaking of unions a do-over vote in Alabama;
The Wall Street Report;
And, are PIP's bad? No not Gladys Knight.
And here's Jeff with Stuff to DO in the Greater Des Moines Metro this weekend into next week.
Thanks for listening!
