Playing To His Strength - Business

The moment we saw the press release from the John Delaney campaign we thought it was brilliant and reached out to the Iowa State Director, Brent Roske, for details. It's called the Heartland Startup Tour and it's not a typical campaign event but something that plays into the strength of former Congressman John Delaney and that's business and startups. Click through and learn more about this novel way to reach what some might consider non-traditional voters.

Those stories and a Two-Part conversation with California Congressman Ro Khanna. This is Part One of my conversation with Congressman Ro Khanna who has been to Iowa nearly as often as some presidential candidates. His efforts have largely been in support of new technologies that will re-imagine Rural America. We talk about that, Silicon Valley, unions and more before we get into Medicare for All in the next segment. To listen click here.

Here, in Part Two of my conversation with California Congressman Ro Khanna, we talk about Medicare for All something that Congressman Khanna has supported and says there is so much dis-information out there he wants to set the record straight. So, we talk about taxes, rural hospitals, health care today and much more. Then, we visit a bit about Sen. Bernie Sanders and how his recent hospital trip may make his call for a universal health care system more...personal. Listen here!

The Business News Headlines & More 27 August 2019

The stock market was set to open lower this morning but...SURPRISE at the open the Dow jumped up by over 100 points. Only to edge lower at mid-day. Why?  That reason is in the newscast today. Also:

  • The 401k lawsuits are mounting we share why;
  • Johnson & Johnson must pay Oklahoma $572 million but the stock goes up;
  • China says, "Hey, nobody called!" And that is part of the problem;
  • China and Costco...we think it's a hit;
  • Boeing and Russia...think lawsuit;
  • Seeking nominations in Iowa.

Those stories and more today along with a look back at a conversation I had with California Congressman Ro Khanna who was instrumental in bringing high technology to Rural Iowa. That space in Jefferson will open to the public on September 7th. We thought it important to go back to last year and this conversation with the Congressman. Here is that conversation.

Technology and Rural America with Congressman Ro Khanna

Last year California Congressman Ro Khanna was in Jefferson Iowa to help launch the Pillar Technology Hub that will open for the public on September 7th. Congressman Khanna was instrumental in gathering some Silicon Valley giants together for this project and he'll be back for the open house event. I thought it might be valuable to look back at this conversation that happened when the project was announced to an overflow crowd.
