We've got a quick programing note...we're trying something a bit different and putting this up well before 5pm Central. Why? We noticed that getting the news headlines in advance of the end of the day seems to be the right thing to do. So...we're going to try this for a bit.  Meanwhile today:

Meet Emily Webb from the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC)

While our friends at the Greater Des Moines Partnership shares some wonderful stories about the vitality of the Greater Des Moines, Iowa area it is sometimes like a "Tale of Two Cities". We talk about that with Emily Webb the president of the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC). There are significant issues with low wages, food insecurity, high costs of living and DMARC is a mission driven organization that works on those issues and more. Today we had quite the day gathering some interviews from not only AARP-Iowa but also the founder of Ancestry.com Paul Allen who was in Iowa making a pitch for his new startup called SOAR. In addition we're now headed out to meet with the Washington D.C. "Shadow Senator" Paul Strauss at an event organized by Iowa for D.C. Statehood. Whew...  But, here are the business news headlines we've cooked up for you:

  • Wells Fargo CEO Tim Sloan steps down; guess what happened to the company stock;
  • The largest auto dealership in the U.S. isn't really a dealership;
  • Amazon is headed to Austin, Texas with more jobs;

Also today we'll lead off with Brad Anderson the State Director of AARP-Iowa as he talks about a March vote on something called the Local Option Sales and Service Tax.
